The Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, Wallace Ng'ang'a, led a solemn Ash Wednesday Mass at St Peter and Paul Cathedral Church, Defence Headquarters, Nairobi, marking the beginning of the Lent season. In his homily, Bishop Ng'ang'a emphasized the three pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving, urging the congregation to use this period for repentance, sacrifice, and deeper communion with God.

The Lent campaign theme, "Build a Just, Peaceful and United Kenya: Upholding Equity and Human Dignity," aims to raise awareness on pressing societal challenges and advocate for justice and human dignity. This year's observance is significant, as Christians and Muslims worldwide will simultaneously observe a season of prayer, fasting, and consecration.

The Ash Wednesday ritual symbolizes humanity's origin from dust and calls for spiritual renewal. Catholics are encouraged to fast, abstain from meat, pray, and give to the needy, preparing for Easter Sunday.
