Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged President William Ruto to account for unfulfilled promises made to Northern Kenya residents. Gachagua listed several promises, including the stalled Ramu-Garre-El-Wak-Kobo-Kotulo-Tarbat-Wajir-Samatar-Modogashe-Isiolo Road, and accused Ruto of lying to the people.
Gachagua criticized Ruto for failing to deliver on promises made during the 2022 campaign, citing lack of basic infrastructure and essential services in marginalised northern counties. He specifically mentioned unfulfilled promises, such as connecting households in Wajir to electricity and constructing fish landing sites in Turkana county.
The former DP also urged Ruto to declare the drought in Northern Kenya a national disaster and provide relief food to affected areas. Gachagua accused northern leaders of maintaining silence as their constituents suffer, and vowed to hold them accountable.
