The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has wrapped up its 4th Medical Scientific Conference in Nairobi, concluding a two-day forum focused on strengthening military health systems and enhancing operational readiness.
The conference brought together medical practitioners and stakeholders to discuss emerging health threats, share best practices, and develop innovative approaches to improve the resilience and responsiveness of KDF medical services.
Presiding over the closing ceremony, former Director of Medical Services, Dr. George Nganga, praised the Medical Corps for sustaining professional excellence and continuous learning.
“The KDF Medical Corps has continued to demonstrate a strong culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning,” he said. “This conference is a critical platform that not only builds professional capacity but also reinforces the strategic role of military medicine in safeguarding operational effectiveness.”
He further stressed the importance of institutional learning and adaptability, noting that “it is essential to institutionalize lessons learned and remain adaptable in the face of evolving health and security challenges.”
Participants used the forum to examine operational gaps, explore practical interventions, and enhance emergency preparedness within military healthcare systems. Discussions also focused on improving integration between medical support and military operations to ensure effectiveness in the field.
The conference concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to applying the knowledge gained. “We must translate these insights into actionable strategies that will strengthen our readiness and ensure we are fully prepared to address both current and emerging medical challenges,” attendees noted.
The annual forum remains a key platform for advancing military medical expertise and reinforcing KDF’s capacity to support national and regional security operations.
