Senator Kavindu, who served as Machakos Woman Representative before her elevation to the Senate, and her husband former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama have been left devastated by the loss of their only child. The tragedy comes just three years after the family lost another child, Janet Njoki, in 2022, compounding the grief.

A wave of sympathy has spread across Machakos County and the country. Leaders and citizens have sent messages of condolence, describing the loss as painful and heartbreaking given its sudden nature.

Kitui Senator Enock Wambua was among those who reached out. “The loss is devastating. I urge the family to remain strong during this difficult time,” Wambua said. “We stand with Senator Kavindu and the Muthama family in prayer and support.”

Other leaders and members of the public have echoed similar sentiments. Many described Moses as a young man with a bright future, expressing sadness over his early departure. Friends, relatives and supporters have continued to visit and call the family to offer comfort.

Moses Muthama was known within his community as a quiet, respectful young man who had begun carving his own path. His death has left a profound void in the family and among those who knew him.

The family has requested privacy as they grieve and prepare for the postmortem examination and subsequent burial arrangements. Further communication from the family is expected in due course.

This tragedy has once again highlighted the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing loved ones. The nation joins the Kavindu-Muthama family in mourning Moses and offering prayers for strength and peace during this painful moment.
