Mau Summit, Three people have died following a serious road accident this morning along the busy Nakuru–Eldoret Highway near Mau Summit in Nakuru County. Officers from the National Police Service (NPS) responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported.

According to initial information from police and emergency responders, the crash involved a private saloon car and a heavy commercial vehicle around the Mau Summit area, a section of the A104 Highway that has seen multiple fatal crashes in the past.

In an official statement, police confirmed that three people died at the scene as a result of the impact. Officers said the victims included occupants of the smaller vehicle, while details about any survivors and their current condition were still being determined late this morning.

The NPS statement also reiterated a familiar warning to motorists: authorities urged drivers to observe traffic rules, maintain safe speeds, and avoid dangerous overtaking, especially on high‑risk stretches such as the Mau Summit and Salgaa blackspots along the corridor, which have recorded numerous crashes over the years. Traffic police and forensic teams cordoned off the scene for examination, collecting evidence to piece together how the crash occurred. No arrests had been reported by midday as investigations continued.

The Nakuru–Eldoret Highway forms part of one of Kenya’s most heavily travelled transport routes, linking the capital Nairobi to western Kenya and neighbouring countries. It has long been a hotspot for road accidents, and NPS officials reiterated that enforcement of road safety regulations remains a priority to reduce the high toll of traffic deaths and injuries along the stretch.
