The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has issued demand letters seeking the restitution of Ksh.1.5 billion paid over the contentious Ruaraka land acquisition, along with accruing interest at 12 percent per annum.

The court has mandated that Fred Matiang’i, along with other officials and entities, refund Ksh.2.7 billion linked to the Ruaraka land transaction. This judgment marks a significant development in the ongoing investigations into corruption related to land acquisitions.

The demand letters from the EACC include notable figures such as Immigration Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, former National Land Commission (NLC) Chair Muhammad Swazuri, and other officials connected to the land transaction, as well as companies associated with the family of late businessman Francis Mburu.
