The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a traffic advisory following flooding and silt deposition along the Mai Mahiu–Suswa–Narok Road, warning motorists to exercise extreme caution.

In a statement, the authority said the most affected section is at Kedong Ranch near Suswa, where heavy rainfall has disrupted normal traffic flow.

“Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution while approaching the affected section,” KeNHA said, citing the presence of water, silt and debris on the roadway. The authority noted that the ongoing rains have significantly reduced the road’s usability, posing risks to both private and commercial vehicles.

“Traffic movement has been affected due to flooding and silt deposition at Kedong Ranch near Suswa,” the statement added.

KeNHA said response teams have been deployed to the area and are working to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow.“Efforts are ongoing to reopen the affected section as soon as possible,” the authority said.

Motorists have further been urged to adhere to instructions issued by traffic police and road officials on site, and to consider alternative routes where necessary to avoid delays and ensure safety.
