A 56-year-old Kenyan has been detained by Zambian authorities following allegations of involvement in cyber activities aimed at influencing Zambia's upcoming general election. The arrest forms part of a larger crackdown on individuals suspected of attempting to interfere with the electoral process through cyber means.
Authorities Uncover Election Interference Plot
The Zambian security forces conducted an intelligence-led operation that led to the apprehension of the Kenyan suspect alongside several other individuals. The operation was initiated due to concerns over attempts to compromise the electoral system through digital means. In addition to the arrest, authorities seized more than K7.3 million (approximately KSh50.15 million) from three other individuals, who have been summoned for questioning.
