A senior police officer accused of killing his wife has surrendered to police in Naivasha, as detectives in Nairobi investigate the murder of a 43-year-old woman whose body was found inside her house along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu. The officer, identified as Daniel Macharia, is said to be attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters along Kiambu Road. He is being held in Naivasha and is expected to be transferred to Nairobi on Wednesday.
In a police report, officers from Kasarani Police Station were alerted after the incident was reported by Zackary Nyagah, who said a body was lying in Room B205 at By Faith Apartment. The OCS Kasarani, accompanied by DCI and CSI officers, visited the scene and found the body of the deceased, identified as Florence Nyagah, lying on its back in the sitting room.
Police said the body had three stab wounds on the left side of the chest and a deep open wound on the forehead. A pool of blood was seen near the door leading to the corridor, with blood stains also spotted on the door frame. Investigators recovered a suspected murder weapon-- a blood-stained knife without a handle--which had been hidden under a kitchen table, according to the report.
According to reports, Florence was last seen on Friday, February 28, 2026, at about 3.41pm, during a video call with her daughter, after which she stopped responding to calls. The daughter later visited the house and found her mother lying lifeless.
