Africa Forward Le Concert 2026: Nairobi Shines as Hub of African Music and Culture

Nairobi, Kenya – The Kasarani Indoor Arena came alive in a spectacular display of African music, culture, and unity as the Africa Forward Le Concert 2026, the grand finale of the Africa Forward Summit, brought together some of the continent’s top artists and high-profile dignitaries under one roof.

From President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron to leading African creatives, the event celebrated the power of Africa’s cultural and creative economy in empowering youth and driving economic growth.

A Night of Music, Diplomacy, and African Unity
President Ruto praised the role of the creative industry in job creation, saying, “The creative economy and artists are one of our biggest engines of job creation and empowerment for our young people.” He also welcomed President Macron, highlighting the importance of strengthened ties between Kenya and France.

In a crowd-pleasing moment, Macron greeted fans in Swahili, saying, “Nairobi niaje? Mko salama?” before praising Kenya’s efforts in hosting the summit and concert, calling it “a new beginning” for continental collaboration.

Despite the absence of Congolese superstar Fally Ipupa, the audience was treated to unforgettable performances by African icons including Youssou N'Dour, Yemi Alade, Bien, Savara, Nomcebo Zikode, Nandy, and José Chameleone.

Celebrating African Talent and Cultural Excellence
Veteran media personality Fred Obachi Machoka, famously known as “Uncle Fred,” described the event as historic, likening it to the 1987 All Africa Games performances. He singled out José Chameleone as the standout performer, receiving a well-deserved standing ovation.

Machoka emphasized the importance of sponsorship and investment in African music, noting that “Kenyan audiences love music; you just need to give them music and they will show up. It’s good for the economy, culture, and bringing Africa together.”

Concert-goers like Maxxy and advocate Kevin Ogola also praised Nairobi for successfully hosting a continental cultural and diplomatic event, highlighting its growing role as a hub for international conferences and cultural exchange.

Africa Forward Le Concert: A Platform for Growth
The concert demonstrated how African unity, creativity, and collaboration can thrive when governments, artists, and the private sector come together. From high-energy performances to diplomatic camaraderie, Nairobi became the heartbeat of African entertainment, leaving fans and dignitaries alike inspired and eager for more.
