Babu Owino, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, has announced the launch of the first Nairobi County Pool Championship. This new initiative is designed to foster local billiards talent and bring the sport into the limelight within the city. The tournament is structured to be a constituency-by-constituency competition, with an impressive total prize fund of KSh 5,000,000.
Promoting Billiards Through County-Wide Competition
The Nairobi County Pool Championship features a qualifier-to-finals format, encouraging participants from all over the county to compete for a chance to represent their areas at the county finals. The winners at the constituency level will receive KSh 15,000 each and earn a spot in the county finals, emphasizing the tournament's focus on grassroots development of the sport.
The county finals promise lucrative rewards, with the men's champion taking home KSh 150,000, the runner-up receiving KSh 100,000, and the third-placed finisher earning KSh 75,000. Women participants are also well catered for, with the winner earning KSh 60,000, the runner-up KSh 40,000, and third place KSh 20,000. In addition, a team event offers a top prize of KSh 140,000, further motivating participants across various categories.
