A Career Spanning More Than Five Decades

Sam Neill enjoyed a distinguished acting career that lasted more than 50 years. He first gained international recognition through films such as Dead Calm and The Hunt for Red October, but it was his role as paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park that made him a household name.

He reprised the iconic role in Jurassic Park III (2001) and later reunited with the original cast in Jurassic World Dominion (2022). His performance helped shape one of Hollywood's most successful film franchises.

Beyond the Jurassic Park series, Neill starred in critically acclaimed productions including The Piano, The Tudors, Peaky Blinders, Event Horizon, and numerous Australian and New Zealand films and television dramas.

Public Battle with Cancer

In 2023, Neill revealed that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer known as angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. He underwent treatment and later said his condition had gone into remission, while continuing to work and remain active in the entertainment industry.
