Twelve outstanding Kenyan students will represent Kenya at the Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals in Shenzhen, China. These students, selected through the Huawei ICT Academy Programme, will compete against over 2,000 participants from around the world in one of the leading global technology competitions.

The Kenyan government, in partnership with Huawei Kenya, flagged off the students in a ceremony that emphasized their merit-based selection, dedication, and excellence. The Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, praised their achievement and urged them to serve as proud ambassadors of Kenya’s burgeoning ICT sector.
Huawei Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing digital talent and advancing ICT skills development in the country through ongoing support for the Huawei ICT Academy Programme and the annual Huawei ICT Competition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Robert Kinyua from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology challenged the students to remain ambitious and innovative. He emphasized leveraging technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to create opportunities and help bridge Kenya’s unemployment gap.
As they prepare to showcase Kenya’s ICT excellence globally, these students exemplify the country’s growing digital capabilities and its potential to compete on the international stage. Their participation underscores the importance of strong collaborations between government, private sector, and academia in fostering a future-ready workforce.
