A routine court session at the Wamunyu Law Courts in Mwala Sub-County took an emotional turn when a former inmate returned to express gratitude to the magistrate who had sentenced him years earlier.
Resident Magistrate Eugene, who presides over criminal and civil matters at the court, was preparing to begin the day's proceedings when he received an unexpected visitor. The man, who had previously appeared before the court as an accused person, had come back not to challenge his conviction but to thank the judicial officer for the sentence that ultimately changed his life.
According to reports, the former inmate told the magistrate that the time he spent in prison gave him an opportunity to reflect on his choices, reform his behaviour and rebuild his life after serving his sentence.
