A popular Nairobi matatu SACCO has taken disciplinary action against one of its drivers following allegations that he was involved in mobilising individuals commonly referred to as "goons."
The SACCO said it acted after the allegations surfaced and reiterated that it does not tolerate unlawful conduct among its employees.
SACCO Reaffirms Commitment to Law
The transport operator stated that all drivers and conductors are expected to uphold professionalism and obey the law while carrying out their duties.
It added that disciplinary procedures would continue in line with the organisation's regulations as investigations into the allegations continue.
Investigations Ongoing
The allegations come amid heightened security concerns following recent demonstrations in parts of the country.
Authorities have not announced any criminal charges against the driver, and the claims remain under investigation. The SACCO has urged the public not to associate the actions of one employee with the organisation as a whole.
