The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has postponed the Kisumu County party delegates' elections, citing a polarized political environment informed by intelligence reports. Party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga announced the decision, without specifying a new date for the elections.

The postponed elections were meant to select party national officials in Kisumu County, preparing for future political activities. This move comes amidst heightened internal divisions within ODM, with factions differing on the party's direction, including the 10-point agenda and coalition talks with the ruling party.

The Linda Mwananchi movement, led by Edwin Sifuna, seeks President William Ruto's ouster, while the Linda Ground faction, aligned with Dr. Oburu, backs a broad-based arrangement. The party's Special National Delegates Convention is scheduled for March 27, 2026, which may shape the party's direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dr. Oburu has emphasized reconciliation, grassroots revitalization, and financial strengthening to restore ODM's dominance. He warned against undermining party unity, stating that those seeking to spoil the party would be asked to leave.
