A recent opinion poll has suggested that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is the preferred choice among respondents to serve as former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's running mate in a possible 2027 presidential bid.
According to the survey, Sifuna received 27 percent support, followed by Eugene Wamalwa with 16 percent. Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga garnered 13 percent, while Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua each received 12 percent.
Opposition Politics Under Spotlight
The findings come as political leaders continue holding consultations and positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Although discussions about possible alliances have intensified, no official opposition coalition has announced its presidential ticket.
Political analysts say the survey reflects public opinion at the time it was conducted and should not be interpreted as an official endorsement. Coalition negotiations and party nominations are expected to shape the political landscape as the 2027 elections draw closer.
