President Ruto's Development Focus in Northern Kenya

At the heart of his regional visit, Ruto emphasized the importance of fully integrating Northern Kenya into the national development agenda. He highlighted the need to correct past injustices and ensure that the region benefits from targeted investments in water, electricity, education, and roads. Significant projects include the Ksh.72.2 million Maalimin Mini-Grid, which is expected to light over 500 households, and substantial funding to connect thousands of homes to power in Wajir, Mandera, and Garissa counties.

Ruto also inspected ongoing infrastructural projects like the 64km Tarbaj-Kotulo road and announced the disbursement of funds to improve healthcare and education facilities, including the Ksh.460 million Eldas Water Supply Project and the foundation for Eldas Teachers Training College. His call to residents to prioritize education reflects the government's strategic focus on human capital development in the region.
