Super Metro Driver and T tout Charged After Passenger’s Death

A driver and a tout of a Super Metro bus have been officially charged in court over the death of a 25-year-old man, Joseph Mureithi, following an incident in Kitengela, Kajiado County.  According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, along the Kitengela–Namanga Highway.

A driver and a tout of a Super Metro bus have been officially charged in court over the death of a 25-year-old man, Joseph Mureithi, following an incident in Kitengela, Kajiado County
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, along the Kitengela–Namanga Highway. Mureithi, who had just finished work as a petrol station attendant in Athi River, boarded a Super Metro bus heading towards Nairobi. 
Witnesses and family members allege that the bus crew forcefully pushed him from the moving vehicle, after which the same bus reportedly ran over him and sped off, leaving him fatally injured beside the road. 
The driver and the tout were later apprehended by police and charged in court. They were released on a KSh 500,000 bond or surety ahead of their forthcoming hearing. Mureithi was taken to Shalom Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival
Super Metro Responds and Investigations Continue 
The transport company has issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the loss of life and confirming that it is cooperating fully with police and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in the ongoing investigation. They also said they are conducting an internal review of safety procedures to prevent future tragedies. 
Authorities have impounded the bus involved and are continuing to probe the exact circumstances that led to the incident as detectives appeal for further information from witnesses
