National Construction Authority (NCA) has issued a notice requiring contractors across the country to comply with its registration requirements within 15 days. The directive forms part of the authority's efforts to strengthen regulation within Kenya's construction industry and ensure that only qualified and licensed contractors undertake construction projects.
Crackdown on Illegal Construction
According to the notice, contractors operating without valid registration or those whose licences have expired risk enforcement action if they fail to regularise their status before the deadline expires.
The NCA has consistently maintained that registration is essential in improving accountability, promoting safety standards and protecting the public from substandard construction works.
Focus on Public Safety
The authority has urged contractors to verify their registration status and complete any pending compliance requirements promptly. The move follows continued concerns over unsafe buildings and structural failures in different parts of the country, with regulators seeking stricter enforcement of construction standards.
