Morara Defends His Political Priorities
Borabu parliamentary aspirant and activist Morara Kebaso has defended his decision to focus his political engagements around former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i rather than attending rallies associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
In remarks shared on Wednesday, Morara said his constituents have consistently expressed support for Matiang'i whenever he meets them. According to him, residents of Borabu ask whether he has brought greetings from Matiang'i, but they have never questioned whether he supports Sifuna.
"When I meet my voters in Borabu Constituency, they ask me if I've brought greetings from Matiang'i. They have never asked me if 'Mimi ni Sifuna.' So, why would I spend more time and energy in Sifuna's rallies if my voters have already guided me on who their president is?" Morara stated.
Signals of Political Alignments
Morara's remarks come amid increased political activity within opposition circles as leaders continue consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election. Several leaders have publicly endorsed different personalities as potential presidential candidates, while others have called for consensus to avoid divisions.
His statement suggests that local political preferences may influence how aspiring leaders allocate their time and campaign efforts.
Debate Over Opposition Unity
The comments have sparked debate online, with some supporting Morara's emphasis on representing his constituents' wishes, while others argue that opposition leaders should prioritize unity as discussions continue on selecting a single presidential candidate.
