A tragic bus crash in eastern Uganda has claimed the lives of more than 20 schoolchildren and an adult, marking one of the deadliest road accidents involving children in recent years. The accident occurred during a school trip, causing widespread grief and concern in the local community.

The bus was carrying pupils from King David Junior School in Ndejje when it suffered a mechanical fault. According to preliminary investigations, the driver lost control on Chekwatit Hill, a notorious stretch known for multiple serious crashes. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a roadside stone, and overturned, leading to tragic loss of life.
The incident, which happened around 20:00 local time, resulted in the death of 20 children and Mr. Tadeo Ssekade, the founder and director of the school. Police reports indicate dozens of others were injured, including school staff, with rescue efforts ongoing at the scene.
The tragedy has sparked urgent calls from government officials and local communities for improved road safety measures, vehicle inspections, and stricter enforcement of transportation laws to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
