Thousands of young entrepreneurs enrolled in the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme are set to receive the second tranche of business start-up capital beginning June 30, 2026, according to the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development. The announcement was made by Principal Secretary Susan Mang'eni.
The funds are expected to support youth-led enterprises across the country, helping beneficiaries expand existing businesses and strengthen their entrepreneurial ventures.
Government Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment
The NYOTA programme is one of the government's flagship initiatives aimed at promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship through financial support, business training, and mentorship. Officials say the programme is designed to equip young people with the skills and capital needed to establish sustainable businesses and create economic opportunities.
According to the State Department for MSMEs Development, preparations for the nationwide disbursement of the second tranche are in the final stages, with the government assuring beneficiaries that the process will be conducted transparently and efficiently.
Warning Against Fake Notices
The ministry has also cautioned beneficiaries against relying on unofficial information circulating online regarding the disbursement process. Authorities have noted the spread of fake notices and misleading updates purporting to provide details about the programme.
Beneficiaries have been urged to rely only on official government communication channels for updates and instructions concerning the release of funds.
Role of Training and Mentorship
The second tranche follows months of business mentorship and classroom-based entrepreneurial training conducted under the NYOTA programme. The training was intended to strengthen beneficiaries' business management skills and prepare them for the next phase of enterprise growth.
Government officials have emphasized that the mentorship and training components are critical in ensuring that the start-up capital is effectively utilized to build viable and sustainable businesses.
The June 30 disbursement is expected to provide a significant boost to thousands of young entrepreneurs who have successfully completed the programme's requirements. The government says the initiative remains a key part of its broader strategy to empower youth, promote innovation, and stimulate economic growth through small and medium-sized enterprises.
