The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has refuted viral claims that Ksh 250 million was recovered during a raid on the home of a Nairobi County Executive Committee (CEC) official. The commission clarified that the actual amount recovered is Ksh 65.3 million as part of ongoing investigations into corruption within the county.
Clarifications from the EACC
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 4, the EACC emphasized that the circulating figures of Ksh 250 million are false. Instead, the official recovery from the raid on Patrick Analo Akivaga, Chief Officer for Urban Development and Planning, was Ksh 65.3 million. The commission urged the public to rely solely on verified information and dismissed all other claims as misinformation.

Details of the Raid and Recovered Items
The raid, conducted at Akivaga’s Syokimau residence and vehicle, was part of a broader investigation into alleged corruption in the Nairobi City County administration. During the operation, the EACC recovered Ksh 51.3 million in cash, USD 113,000 (equivalent to Ksh 14 million), and several electronic devices, title deeds, motor vehicle logbooks, laptops, and land and vehicle sale agreements. The commission also seized official planning documents from the county as evidence.
The commission has emphasized that these recovered items are critical evidence in the ongoing investigation, which seeks to uncover potential misappropriation of funds and corrupt practices within the county government.
