Bolt Food Expands Beyond Restaurants: Partners with QuickMart to Deliver Groceries and Essentials Across Kenya

Bolt Food Enters On-Demand Retail, Bringing Over 12,000 Products to Your Doorstep

Bolt Food is moving beyond restaurant delivery with a bold new partnership with QuickMart Supermarkets, giving Kenyan customers access to more than 12,000 products from over 60 stores nationwide. This expansion positions Bolt Food as a multi-category convenience platform, allowing users to order groceries, household essentials, beverages, wellness products, and other supermarket items—all through a single app.

With the new service, customers can shop directly from QuickMart branches and have their orders delivered within minutes, offering the same speed and convenience that Bolt Food has become known for in meal delivery.

Ali Zaryab, Bolt Food Kenya and Ghana General Manager, said the collaboration reflects the company’s broader strategy to expand its digital ecosystem beyond meals.

“This partnership is a significant step in how we are evolving Bolt Food, from a food delivery service to a platform that supports everyday needs,” Zaryab said.

“By collaborating with trusted brands such as QuickMart, we’re making it easier for customers to shop conveniently, and for our partners to reach more households through digital channels. We’re also creating additional earning opportunities for our courier community.”

For QuickMart, the partnership expands its digital distribution channels amid growing competition in Kenya’s retail sector. Betty Wamaitha, QuickMart Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized that the move aligns with the retailer’s long-term focus on convenience and accessibility.

“As QuickMart celebrates 20 years of serving Kenyan households, this partnership with Bolt Food is a powerful step in delivering on our promise of convenience,” Wamaitha said.

“By enabling customers to access QuickMart’s wide range of quality goods and services through on-demand delivery, we are making everyday shopping easier, faster, and more accessible.”

The launch comes as Kenya’s digital economy continues to grow, fueled by increased adoption of platform-based work and online retail services. Bolt Food highlighted that the gig economy supports approximately 1.5 million workers and contributes over KES 100 billion annually to the economy, with many relying on platform-based income.

The move into grocery and retail delivery is part of Bolt Food’s broader expansion strategy, which includes onboarding more partners and investing in logistics and technology. The new retail category is expected to complement existing restaurant deliveries, boost order frequency, and offer additional earning opportunities for delivery couriers.

With this expansion, Bolt Food aims to become a leading convenience platform in Kenya, connecting customers to a wider range of retail services while supporting digital growth for businesses and enhancing the everyday shopping experience.
